JUNEE photographer Roger Dietrich’s newest work is turning heads at Australia’s premier photography festival in Sydney.

Known for his portraits, landscapes, and motorsport photography, Mr Dietrich has recently ventured into artistic nude photography and he’s already garnering significant recognition.

Speaking with Junee Community News, Mr Dietrich said that he only began exploring the new genre this year.

“I was so nervous going into my first shoot that I had to stop and tell the model how I was feeling,” he admitted.

“I’ve been apprehensive about sharing this work because of the stigma associated with it.”

However, his concerns diminished when he learned that six of his photographs had been selected for the nudes on TAP exhibition in Surry Hills.

This group showcase is part of the internationally acclaimed Head On Photo Festival, which is celebrated as Australia’s premier photography event and one of the world’s most prestigious.

Now in its 20th year, the Nudes on TAP exhibition highlights the artistry of nude photography, offering photographers an opportunity to display their work, engage in peer critiques, and gain valuable feedback.

This year’s event received a record 160 submissions from 37 photographers. Of those, only 60 images were chosen for display, including all six of Mr. Dietrich’s submissions.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Mr. Dietrich said. “I entered six photos, hoping one or two might make it, but all of them were selected.”

Unfortunately, we cannot show you the images here due to Facebook’s stringent Terms and Conditions.

The photographs are currently on display at the TAP Gallery in Surry Hills, with the exhibition running until November 30.

Mr Dietrich will attend the opening event on Saturday, followed by an awards ceremony later that night and an artist discussion featuring photographers and models on Sunday.

The exhibition is a significant milestone in Mr Dietrich’s evolving photography career, showcasing his ability to master new genres and connect with audiences through his artistry.

The Junee photographer said he is excited to see his images displayed in a gallery.

“I cannot wait really, just to see my photos on the wall in an exhibition,” he said.

Despite being new to the genre, Mr Dietrich has already collaborated with five professional models from around the world, including Australia, Northern Ireland, the Czech Republic, and France.

“It’s very respectful work,” he emphasized. “These are professional models, and I would only pursue this style with experienced professionals.”
