More trouble for NSW cop accused of fraud

A NEW South Wales police officer charged with fraud after allegedly lodging fake insurance claims has been slapped with a list of additional charges, including multiple firearm offences.
The 34-year-old male constable first came to the attention of police two years ago, following two suspicious car fires in the Murray River region in April 2023.
The officer, attached to a command in the NSW Southern Region, was charged with fraud in January 2024 and remains before the courts.
Following a protracted investigation, the 34-year-old constable was issued with an additional court attendance notice today, Thursday March 6.
He was charged with intentionally publishing or communicating protected information, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, using a firearm under the influence of alcohol or drug, and giving a pistol to a person not authorised to use one.
The NSW constable will next appear in Albury Local Court on Tuesday, March 18.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the officer’s employment status “remains under review”.
