Junee man flown to Sydney hospital with ‘extensive petrol burns’

A YOUNG man is recovering in a Sydney hospital this morning after being engulfed in flames on a rural property near Junee overnight.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident just before 7:15pm.
It’s understood a man in his 20s was transferring petrol from one container to another when it ignited.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson told The Junee Bulletin the man suffered extensive burns to the left side of his body and remained conscious throughout the ordeal.
“He suffered significant petrol burns to his left leg, left arm, abdomen and face,” the spokesperson said.
The Junee Bulletin understands the man suffered burns to approximately 18 per cent of his body and will need to undergo multiple skin grafts.
The man was assessed and treated by ambulance paramedics on the scene before being transported to Junee Multipurpose Service.
The Toll Ambulance rescue helicopter was dispatched to later airlift the man to a Sydney hospital where he remains this morning.
The helicopter was seen landing at Junee’s Laurie Daley Oval about 9pm before departing 90 minutes later.
