Police probe fatal crash north of Junee

POLICE are investigating the cause of a fatal crash that claimed the life of a man north of Junee over the King’s Birthday long weekend.

The collision occurred on Coolamon Road at Sebastopol—about 15 kilometres south of Temora—in the early hours of Saturday, June 7.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 2:30am, where they found a vehicle with two occupants had left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, a man aged in his 20s, sustained critical injuries.

Despite the efforts of first responders, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, an 18-year-old man, escaped injury.

He was assessed by paramedics before being taken to Wagga Base Hospital as a precaution.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
