Body found with multiple injuries on Riverina highway

POLICE are investigating the death of a man whose body was found with multiple injuries beside a major highway in the Riverina.
The grim discovery was made around 12.30pm on Tuesday, 17 June, on the Newell Highway, approximately 5km south of Jerilderie.
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be in his 40s and had suffered significant injuries, according to police.
A crime scene was established, and the highway was closed between Jerilderie and Finley for several hours while forensic specialists examined the area.
Officers from the Murray River Police District, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit, are now working to determine how the man died.
They’re appealing to anyone with dashcam footage who travelled through the area between midnight Monday (16 June) and midday Tuesday (17 June) to come forward.
