Shopfront torched in suspected arson attack: Police

POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack after fire tore through a Gundagai business earlier this week.
Emergency services rushed to the town’s main street after reports of a shopfront alight on Sheridan Street about 8pm on Tuesday night, June 17.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW quickly brought the blaze under control while officers from the Riverina Police District secured the scene and established a perimeter.
Fortunately, no one was injured and the fire did not cause structural damage to the premises—but police believe it was no accident.
A crime scene was declared, and detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze, which is being treated as deliberately lit.
Authorities are now appealing for public assistance to help track down those responsible.
Anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, is urged to contact Riverina Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
