Junee celebrates 80 years of Book Week with colourful town parade

FROM wizards to wild things, minions to princesses — Junee turned the page on another magical Book Week celebration today.
Railway Square was transformed into a sea of colour and creativity on Wednesday as hundreds of children, educators, parents and community members gathered for Junee’s second annual Book Week parade.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s celebration was bigger than ever — with Junee North Public School and Illabo Public School joining the extravaganza for the first time.
The show also coincided with the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of inspiring young readers.
This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” was brought to life through an extraordinary range of costumes.

With perfect weather adding to the atmosphere, the annual event once again highlighted Junee’s community spirit and commitment to fostering a love of reading among the next generation.
A special thanks goes to Junee Shire Council for hosting the event, the schools for their enthusiastic participation, the teachers for their tireless effort, the parents for their hard work on costumes, and the many spectators who lined Railway Square to cheer the children on.
