Childcare worker accused of spraying child with garden hose charged with assault

A CHILDCARE worker accused of spraying a five-year-old girl with a garden hose at an early learning centre in the Riverina has been charged with assault.

NSW Police released a statement on Tuesday, August 27, 2025, confirming that a 27-year-old woman had been charged over the November 2024 incident following a months-long investigation.

“On Thursday, 5 December 2024, officers attached to Murray River Police District commenced investigations following reports a five-year-old girl had been assaulted at an early learning centre in Deniliquin,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“It will be alleged that on two separate occasions in November 2024, the child had water sprayed on her from a garden hose.”

The 27-year-old accused was issued a Court Attendance Notice on Sunday, August 24, charged with two counts of assaulting a school student while attending school.

The woman is set to appear before Deniliquin Local Court on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
