7.00 AM MONDAY | A MAN and woman have spent the night behind bars, charged after a patrol car was rammed and an officer injured during a wild 30km police chase that came to a dramatic end in Junee on Sunday.

Police say the pursuit began just after 1pm on the Olympic Highway at Bomen when a Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop the driver of an unregistered grey Holden Commodore.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, police initiated a pursuit towards Junee during which time it’s alleged a female passenger of the Commodore threw items from the vehicle towards the pursuing patrol car.

Police further allege that upon reaching Albert Street in Junee, the driver reversed at speed and rammed the Highway Patrol vehicle, activating all airbags, before driving off.

A male officer was taken to Wagga Base Hospital for scans and treatment for upper body injuries, police said.

The incident prompted a significant police response, with multiple marked and unmarked vehicles, Highway Patrol cars and police motorcycles swarming the town.

A short time later, police said the damaged Commodore was found abandoned in the rail corridor near Junction Street.

Following inquiries, and an extensive search of surrounding streets and residential yards, police attended a home in Percy Street where a 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Junee Police Station.

The man was charged with half-a-dozen serious offences, including using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, police pursuit, driving while disqualified, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and displaying a misleading number plate.

He was also charged over an outstanding warrant.

His alleged female accomplice was charged with intentionally throwing objects at the police vehicle and intentionally damaging property.

Both were refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today, Monday, March 2, 2026.

5.30 PM SUNDAY | A MAN has been arrested following a police operation in Junee.

The arrest follows reports of a dramatic police pursuit in the town on Sunday afternoon, with claims the driver abandoned their vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The incident prompted a significant police response, with multiple marked and unmarked vehicles, Highway Patrol cars and police motorcycles seen in the area as officers searched local streets and residential yards.

In response to an enquiry from The Junee Bulletin, NSW Police confirmed a 25-year-old man had been arrested and taken to Junee Police Station, where he remained in custody Sunday evening.

MORE TO COME.
