Woman killed after car collides with tree in Riverina crash
A WOMAN has died after the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a tree north of Junee on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Burley Griffin Way at Combaning, about 13km east of Temora, shortly after 2.30pm following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and found a car had collided with a tree.
Police said the driver, a 54-year-old woman who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
She has not yet been formally identified.
A crime scene has been established and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are now underway.
Traffic controls remain in place on Burley Griffin Way, with motorists being allowed through the area in one direction at a time.
