One resident told The Junee Bulletin the car had been parked in the same spot since the weekend, describing its position as “odd” and “out of place.”
“Then tonight, suddenly, we heard this huge bang and saw flames shooting into the air.”
Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions and described a fire intense enough to draw people from their homes and light up the street.
“We thought it was a house fire at first,” another resident said. “There were a few loud cracks and explosions — you could see the glow through the trees.”

The Olympic Highway was briefly closed to traffic while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control. NSW Police also attended the incident.
By 9:10pm, the road had reopened, but the burnt-out car remained at the scene.
No injuries were reported. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire are expected to follow.
