“For the Kids”: Junee rallies around children after death of beloved mum Vanessa Field

THE Junee community is wrapping its arms around six local children following the heartbreaking death of their mother, Vanessa Field, who passed away at the age of 46 on Friday night after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vanessa died peacefully at her home on October 3, surrounded by the family she loved most. She leaves behind six children: Samuel (20), Ella (18), Charlie (17), Lexi (13), Tilly (12) and Macey (10).
A lifelong Junee resident, Vanessa was well-known for her warmth, her strength, and above all her enormous heart, which those closest to her say she extended generously to others in their time of need.
Now, in a powerful show of love and solidarity, the town is giving back.
A Go Fund Me campaign, launched just four days before her passing, has already raised more than $23,000, with every cent to be placed in a dedicated Trust to support her children.
DONATE HERE: In Support Of Vanessa’s Children
Vanessa’s cancer journey began in 2022 when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
After undergoing life-saving surgery, she was able to return home and spend precious time with her children. But the cancer later returned, and despite her extraordinary courage, her condition worsened in recent months.
She spent her final days receiving end-of-life care at home, surrounded by love.
Through it all, her cousin Savannah Field said Vanessa’s greatest concern was never herself — it was always her kids.
“All money raised will go directly toward supporting them, helping to provide for their needs and give them the security and love Vanessa always wanted for them,” Savannah said.
SUPPORT POURS IN
The community’s response has been swift and heartfelt.
More than 150 individuals and businesses have already donated, with several local venues stepping up to help support the children through the difficult road ahead.
The Commercial Hotel has committed to donating proceeds from its October raffles, while The Red Cow Hotel is contributing money raised through the sale of 20 meat trays.
The Junee Diesels Rugby League Club has also rallied behind the family, sharing the fundraiser across its platforms and encouraging the wider sporting community to get behind the cause.
Vanessa’s eldest son, Samuel, plays first grade for the Diesels, while two of her younger children, Charlie (17) and Lexi (13), also proudly represent the club.
The outpouring of generosity reflects not only the town’s deep affection for Vanessa and her children, but also Junee’s enduring spirit of unity in times of hardship.
SILENT AUCTION IN THE WORKS
In addition to the online fundraiser, Savannah is coordinating a silent auction, with 100% of proceeds to go into the children’s Trust.
She is currently seeking donations of goods, vouchers, services or experiences to include in the auction, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
Donors will be publicly acknowledged for their generosity.
“This is a meaningful way to demonstrate community spirit and social responsibility while making a lasting difference in the lives of children who need it most,” Savannah said.
“Our goal is to raise as much support as possible to ensure they are provided for in the years to come.”
Donations can be arranged by contacting Savannah on 0477 472 477 or via email at savannah.field19@gmail.com.
