Kemp Street hill claims another victim

JUNEE’S Kemp Street hill has once again proven a challenge for heavy vehicles, with a truck getting stuck this morning while hauling heavy machinery.

The truck failed to crest the hill just before 11am, blocking the westbound lane until Junee Shire Council responded with heavy equipment to tow it to the top.

The scene was cleared within 20 minutes.

It comes as rain returns to the drought-stricken Junee Shire after.

It’s not the first time the hill has caused problems—locals say it’s a common issue, particularly in wet weather, as truck drivers unfamiliar with the steep gradient attempt the climb.
