Junee High makes history with maiden NSW rugby league title
MORE than 30 years after the competition began, Junee High School has finally etched its name onto the NSW Small Schools rugby league shield, claiming a historic maiden state title.
The school’s under-16 side achieved the milestone in Bathurst on Wednesday, August 19, defeating Holy Trinity School, Inverell, 32-22 in the NSW Small Schools State Final.
It was a tough and physical contest from the outset, with little separating the two sides throughout the opening half as Junee took a narrow lead into the break.

Holy Trinity mounted a late fightback, but Junee held firm to seal the 10-point victory and bring the state shield home for the first time.

While the school praised the contribution of the entire squad, Sweeney, Liam Brandon, Tyler Hayes and Ben Field were singled out for outstanding performances in the state decider.
Hayman was named Player of the Day and received an NRL merchandise pack for his efforts.
