A MAN has been charged after he was allegedly caught cutting up trees inside a public reserve near Wagga.

Police were called to Oura Beach Reserve on Wagga Wagga Street at Oura on Thursday, May 14, following reports a man was cutting trees within the travelling stock reserve.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and allegedly found the man at the scene.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and issued with a Court Attendance Notice charged with damaging a travelling stock reserve without authority.

The man is due to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, July 8.

Residents are reminded that timber and vegetation cannot be removed from public land or travelling stock reserves without permission.

Travelling stock reserves are protected public lands used for livestock movement and grazing, while also providing important habitat and environmental value across regional NSW.
