A MAN has been charged following a multi-agency investigation into alleged illegal hunting inside Kosciuszko National Park.

An investigation was launched in March 2025, following concerns of illegal hunting activity within restricted areas of the alpine park.

Meetings were held between officers from Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT), NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and NSW Hunting (DPIRD) to address the issue.

Following extensive inquiries, a 31-year-old man was charged with a long list of offences on May 26.

Police will allege the man deliberately accessed restricted areas of the park to engage in illegal hunting activity and altered or removed number plates in an attempt to avoid identification.

He faces over a dozen charges, including four counts of hunting game animals on public or private land without a licence, five counts of entering closed areas of a national park, four counts of controlling a dog fitted with hunting equipment within a park, and three counts of driving in a park without properly displayed number plates.

The man is also charged with allegedly harming an animal within a national park and using false or incorrect number plates on a vehicle.

He has been issued a Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear at Tumbarumba Local Court on August 20.
