Roadside rubbish: Illegal dumpers in Council’s crosshairs
RESIDENTS in Junee are being enlisted to help expose those turning roadsides into rubbish tips following a recent spate of illegal dumping incidents across the shire.
Junee Shire Council says it has recently become aware of illegal dumping within the Local Government Area and is calling on the community to help stamp out the problem.
The issue is creating unnecessary clean-up costs for the community, harming the environment and detracting from the appearance of public spaces, Council said.
Dumped waste can include household rubbish, green waste, old furniture, building materials and other unwanted items left on public or private land.
Council is asking anyone who witnesses illegal dumping, or discovers dumped waste, to report it as soon as possible, providing the location and any relevant information that may assist.
“By reporting illegal dumping, you can help Council respond appropriately and keep our community clean, safe and welcoming,” Council said.
Residents with information about illegal dumping are encouraged to contact Junee Shire Council.
