JUNEE Shire Council’s spring school holiday program has been hailed a success, with hundreds of children taking part in more than a dozen free activities over the two-week break.

A total of 659 attendances were recorded across 14 Council-led activities during the recent September–October school holidays, with several events reaching capacity.

The impressive turnout was highlighted in a report tabled at Council’s monthly meeting on Tuesday night, October 20.

The Junee Recreation and Aquatic Centre’s new giant inflatable obstacle course proved the biggest crowd-puller, with 130 children enjoying two hours of free fun on October 6.

The centre was buzzing again just three days later, with a free Glow Roller Disco drawing another 120 youngsters on October 9.

The Athenium Theatre was another popular destination, with separate screenings of Hoppers and Minions & Monsters attracting a combined audience of more than 200 moviegoers.

Meanwhile, Junee Library was a hive of creativity, with all four arts and crafts sessions fully booked, while bus trips to Food I Am at Springvale and the Temora Aviation Museum also reached capacity.

Funded by the NSW Office for Youth, the program offered local children and young people a diverse range of free activities, helping keep boredom at bay throughout the spring break.

The strong turnout reflects the continued popularity of Council’s school holiday initiatives, providing accessible entertainment and opportunities for young people to socialise, get active and try something new.
