Boy, 14, allegedly driving ute involved in serious crash

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a ute, allegedly being driven by a 14-year-old boy, left the road and flipped multiple times in a horror crash in the Riverina. 

The serious crash occurred on Lachlan River Road at Hillston about 12.30pm on Sunday, September 6.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a crash and found a Toyota Hilux that had left the roadway and overturned multiple times.

Police allege the vehicle was being driven by a 14-year-old boy.

The teenager was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Hillston Hospital with minor injuries.

He was also subjected to mandatory testing.

A 34-year-old man travelling in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital for treatment.

Two girls, aged 12 and five, were also injured in the crash.

Both were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Hillston Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including how the vehicle came to leave the road.

The NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit is now investigating.

Police have not announced any charges in relation to the incident.
