Class of 2026 raises record $16,588 for Junee Can Assist

JUNEE High School’s graduating class has left an extraordinary legacy, after handing over more than $16,500 to help local people affected by cancer.

The school’s Year 12 class of 2026 presented Junee Can Assist with a cheque for an impressive $16,588.30 at their graduation ceremony on Wednesday, September 23, following a year-long fundraising effort.

The students chose Can Assist as their nominated charity, spending their senior year raising money to support the local branch and the work it does within the community.

Junee Can Assist president Fiona Rynehart, treasurer Graham Besley and secretary Liz Cowled were invited to the school for the special presentation, where the students officially handed over the fruits of their impressive fundraising campaign.

Junee High School confirmed it was the highest amount ever raised by a Year 12 class.

The substantial donation will support Junee Can Assist’s work helping local cancer patients and their families with the financial burden that can come with a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The organisation praised the graduating students for their remarkable achievement.

“These lovely ladies and gentlemen have done an amazing job,” Junee Can Assist said.

“We are very proud of them all. Thanks again Year 12, much appreciated.”

The $16,588.30 contribution represents an enormous fundraising effort by the students and ensures their final year at Junee High School will deliver a lasting benefit well beyond the school gates.
