JUNEE Golf Club’s annual Can Assist Charity Day delivered a strong turnout and spirited competition on Saturday, with 80 players taking to the course despite challenging gale-force westerly winds.

The event, held on November 15, drew visiting players from clubs across the region, including The Rock, Gundagai, Coolamon and Wagga, along with local members and social golfers eager to support the cause.

One of the day’s major attractions was the Remax-sponsored Hole-in-One challenge on the 10th.

While no player managed the elusive ace, Ken Twaddell came closest, finishing just 1.8 metres from the pin.

A dedicated team of volunteers from Junee Can Assist worked from 7am to 3pm, providing breakfast, lunch and on-the-ground support.

Club Captain Rex Parkes thanked all players, sponsors and volunteers for helping deliver a smooth and enjoyable day, and raising vital funds for local families undergoing cancer treatment.

“Junee Golf Club would like to thank all the Club personnel and members for their commitment to the day,” he said.

Greens staff were praised for preparing the course under difficult weather conditions, while caretakers Ian and Wendy ensured the clubhouse was ready for the busy schedule.

Drink and refreshment operators Terry and Sue were also acknowledged for their “amazing efforts” both before and during the event.
