Man hospitalised, duo charged over alleged pub assault
A MAN has walked into a hospital with serious facial injuries after allegedly being bashed at a pub in the Riverina.
Two men have been charged over the alleged assault in the small town of Barellan, about 55 kilometres east of Griffith.
They’re accused of assaulted a 31-year-old man at the town pub on Yapunyah Street about 9.30pm on Friday, August 28.
Police say the 31-year-old sustained serious facial injuries and later presented himself to Griffith Base Hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation by officers from Murrumbidgee Police District, the man’s alleged attackers, aged 42 and 38, were arrested on Barellan Showgrounds Road about 2.15pm the following day.
They were both taken to Griffith Police Station where they were each charged with reckless wounding in company.
The older man was also charged with common assault.
Both men were granted conditional bail and are due to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday, October 21.
