Man charged over woman’s alleged stabbing murder

5:00PM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 | THE man accused of murdering a 23-year-old woman in Wagga has faced court for the first time since his arrest, as police establish a strike force to investigate her death.

Adam Mark Perrim, 31, appeared before Bail Division Local Court 5 on Sunday, September 20, after being charged with domestic violence murder.

Perrim had been refused police bail following his arrest on Saturday night and did not make an application for bail during Sunday’s court appearance.

He remains in custody, with the matter due to return before Wagga Local Court for a brief hearing in November.

Police allege Perrim and the 23-year-old woman were in a domestic relationship.

An 18-year-old man who was arrested near the scene following the alleged murder was later released without charge.

Police say the teenager was also known to the woman and had allegedly been at the home on Saturday morning.

8:30AM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 | A 31-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old woman believed to be his girlfriend to death in Wagga.

Police confirmed the major development on Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after the young woman was allegedly stabbed at a home on Ziegler Avenue, Kooringal.

Emergency services were called to the home about 11.45am on Saturday, September 19, where they found the woman suffering from multiple life-threatening stab wounds.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers from Riverina Police District attended and performed CPR on the woman, but despite efforts to save her, she died at the home.

Police were informed a man had left the property before emergency services arrived.

An 18-year-old man was arrested nearby at the scene and taken to Wagga Police Station where he was questioned before being released without charge.

Police established a crime scene and established a strike force to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The investigation took a major turn about 8pm on Saturday when officers arrested a 31-year-old man at a home on Menzies Avenue, also in Kooringal.

He was taken to Wagga Police Station where he spent the night being questioned by detectives before being charged with domestic violence-related murder.

Police will allege in court the man was in a domestic relationship with the woman.

The 31-year-old was refused bail and is due to appear before a bail court today.

The alleged murder was one of three deaths involving women across NSW on Saturday.

A 90-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death at Bondi Beach, while the body of a 70-year-old woman was discovered at a remote property near Tenterfield after police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident.

Men have also been arrested in connection with those deaths, with a 47-year-old man charged with domestic violence murder over the Bondi Beach incident.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 | A YOUNG woman has been stabbed to death inside a Wagga home, with police searching for a man who allegedly fled before emergency services arrived.

The 23-year-old woman could not be saved despite desperate attempts by police and paramedics to resuscitate her at the Ziegler Avenue property in Kooringal on Saturday.

Emergency services swooped on the home about 11.45am following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Police said NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers from Riverina Police District performed CPR on the woman, but she died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wagga Police Station.

Police have been told a second man fled the property before emergency services arrived.

All parties are believed to be known to one another.

A crime scene has been established, with specialist officers called in to examine the property as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
