More than half a kilo of MDMA allegedly found in car at RBT site

A DRIVER stopped for a breath test at an RBT site in the Riverina has been arrested, after police allegedly found more than half a kilogram of MDMA in his vehicle.

Riverina Highway Patrol officers were conducting stationary random breath testing on the Hume Highway at Coolac about 10am on Thursday, September 3, when they stopped the vehicle and spoke with its driver and sole occupant, a 27-year-old man.

During the interaction, officers searched the vehicle and allegedly uncovered more than 500 grams of MDMA.

The drugs were seized and the driver arrested before being taken to Gundagai Police Station.

Detectives from Riverina Police District later charged the man with supplying a prohibited drug more than the large commercial quantity (500 grams) and possessing a prohibited drug.

Police have not revealed what prompted officers to search the vehicle.

The 27-year-old was refused bail and held in custody overnight to appear before a bail court on Friday, September 4.
