Two charged after gun pulled in Wagga street brawl

A GUN has allegedly been pulled during a violent street brawl in Wagga, with a 17-year-old boy among two people charged over the incident.

Police say up to 10 people were involved in the confrontation on Edgehill Place in Tolland about 4.30pm on Sunday, September 13.

Riverina Police District officers were called to the street following reports of a brawl and were told one person had allegedly produced a firearm during the altercation.

Those involved had fled the scene before police arrived.

No injuries were reported.

Police launched an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Arctis, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy at Wagga Police Station about 7.25pm on Monday.

The teenager was charged with possessing a shortened firearm, not being a pistol, without authority and acquiring a firearm while subject to a prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appear before the Bail Division Children’s Court on Tuesday.

Police made a second arrest early Tuesday morning after Riverina Police District officers, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Connorton Avenue, Ashmont, about 6am.

Investigators allegedly located and seized clothing and electronic devices during the search.

The items will undergo forensic examination.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with possessing a shortened firearm, not being a pistol, without authority.

He was refused bail to also appear before a bail court on Tuesday.

Strike Force Arctis was established by Riverina Police District in September to investigate a number of aggravated break and enters, home invasions and firearm-related incidents across the region.

Investigations under the strike force remain ongoing.
