Crime scene declared after woman stabbed to death

A YOUNG woman has been stabbed to death inside a Wagga home, with police searching for a man who allegedly fled before emergency services arrived.

The 23-year-old woman could not be saved despite desperate attempts by police and paramedics to resuscitate her at the Ziegler Avenue property in Kooringal on Saturday.

Emergency services swooped on the home about 11.45am following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Police said NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers from Riverina Police District performed CPR on the woman, but she died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wagga Police Station.

Police have been told a second man fled the property before emergency services arrived.

All parties are believed to be known to one another.

A crime scene has been established, with specialist officers called in to examine the property as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Police are urging anyone with information, or relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area, to contact Wagga Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
