A RESCUE helicopter has been deployed to a rural property north of Junee after an elderly woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash this morning.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on a private property off Combaning Road near Erin Vale, between Junee and Temora, about 10.30am on Tuesday.

Police, NSW Ambulance paramedics — including intensive care crews — along with the State Emergency Service, Volunteer Rescue Association and Rural Fire Service responded from Junee, Temora and Wagga.

The crash involved a dual cab ute, which reportedly struck a stump in the paddock, causing airbags to be deployed.

The impact caused moderate front-end damage to the vehicle, which became wedged on the stump at an angle of about 30 degrees.

The driver, a woman aged in her 80s, is believed to have suffered a serious compound fracture to her leg and possible fractures to her arm.

She was conscious and alert when first responders arrived, however was unable to get herself out of the wreck.

The woman remained confined inside the vehicle for over an hour as crews worked to stabilise the wreck and safely extricate her.

Due to the nature of the woman’s injuries and the remote location, the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the scene.

The aircraft departed Canberra just before 11.30am and was expected to land on scene at 12.10pm.
