Wild scenes as stolen Audi’s 150km/h rampage ends in crash chaos
A MAN has been charged after a dangerous high-speed police pursuit through Wagga ended in a trail of wrecked vehicles and a stolen Audi crashing into the front yard of a family home.
Police allege the driver reached speeds of up to 150km/h through suburban streets before colliding with multiple vehicles and smashing through a fence in Kooringal on Friday night, June 12.
The dramatic incident began about 8.50pm when officers attached to Riverina Police District were conducting a high-visibility operation on Northcott Parade at Mount Austin.
A NSW Police spokesperson told The Junee Bulletin officers attempted to stop a white Audi sedan after allegedly observing it being driven dangerously.
“When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated,” the spokesperson said.
Police allege the Audi was driven into the path of oncoming traffic and reached speeds of approximately 150km/h in a signposted 60km/h zone as it travelled through Mount Austin, Turvey Park and Kooringal.

The pursuit came to a violent end on Stanley Street, where police say the Audi collided with an oncoming black Ford utility before crashing into a parked grey Mazda hatchback.
The impact forced the hatchback into oncoming traffic, where it struck a grey Mitsubishi utility.
Incredibly, no serious injuries were reported.
Moments later, the Audi mounted the kerb, smashed through a residential fence and came to rest in the front yard of a Stanley Street home.
Inside that home was resident Sashi Lawler.
“If not for him hitting the car first, he would have been in our loungeroom, killing us both,” Ms Lawler told The Junee Bulletin.

Police allege Austin Green, 29, was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle.
After initially running from the scene of the crash, Green was arrested nearby and allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of the destructive drug ‘ice’ and drug paraphernalia.
The 29-year-old was taken to Wagga Police Station, where he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries before being transported under police guard to Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.
After being released from hospital, Green was returned to the police station where he was charged with multiple offences relating to the police pursuit, the stolen vehicle, the crash and drug possession.
He was refused police bail and appeared in a bail court the following day, where he was remanded in custody ahead of his scheduled appearance before Wagga Local Court on June 24.
The pursuit occurred on the same night as a separate police chase in Narrandera, which ended in a fatal crash when a sedan became wedged beneath a B-double truck on the Newell Highway.
The 43-year-old driver later died from his injuries.
