Accused gunman arrested, charged over Wagga shooting

THURSDAY, 12 JUNE: AN alleged gunman wanted over the shooting death of a man in Wagga earlier this week has been arrested and charged with murder.

The 35-year-old man was arrested at a home in Narrandera on Thursday morning and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was formally charged with murder.

MONDAY, 9 JUNE: A MAN has been shot dead in Wagga Wagga, with a major manhunt now underway for the gunman responsible.

Emergency services rushed to Connorton Avenue in Ashmont just before 3am on Monday, June 9, following reports of a shooting.

Police say a man was shot during a violent altercation at the location.

Officers from Riverina Police District, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, arrived to find the man with critical gunshot wounds.

Despite desperate efforts by responders, he could not be saved and died at the scene.

The victim is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene has been established, and specialist forensic officers are combing the area for evidence.

A homicide investigation is underway, with local detectives being assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
