A MAN has died following a tragic incident on a private property in the Junee Shire.

Police were called to a rural property at Eurongilly, located roughly 20 kilometres east of Junee, at about 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 4, following the discovery of a man’s body.

It is understood the man, believed to be aged in his 70s, had set out to cut firewood on the property earlier in the day and did not return home as expected.

His body was reportedly located under, or in close proximity to, a fallen tree.

Officers from the Riverina Police District responded, supported by members of Junee’s Volunteer Rescue Association.

NSW Ambulance paramedics also attended, however the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The scene was secured as standard procedure while officers worked to confirm the circumstances.

A NSW Police spokesperson later told The Junee Bulletin on Tuesday morning that the man’s death was being treated as a “misadventure”.

“The incident is not being investigated by police,” the spokesperson said.

“There are no suspicious circumstances, and the incident is being treated as a misadventure.”
