JUNEE’S new Bowser Bound service station triggered a rush for the pump this morning, after slashing the price of its fuel to just 99c per litre for an hour as part of its grand opening celebration.

Motorists keen for a bargain began queuing outside the Illabo Road servo well the before the unbeatable offer began at 10am, eager to take advantage of almost $1 per litre in savings.

The last time the average price of petrol in Australia was below $1 per litre was in February, 2005.

Extra staff were on site to assist with traffic management and to help pump petrol, with drivers hailing the incident-free event a major success.

Customers were able to purchase up to 60 litres of any fuel at the discounted price, and were also treated to free coffees and cheeseburgers, goodie bags and other nifty gifts.

“It’s a well oiled machine,” one driver said. “They should be congratulated on a smooth operation.”

“It was a hot morning but everyone was so patient and happy to wait in line for the deal—it was too good to miss,” said another.

“A lot of people were expecting mayhem, but there was no frenzy like many predicted, the staff were brilliant.”

Owned by Vantage Fuels, the Illabo Road service station has been operating under the company’s Bowser banner since early 2022.

It’s Vantage Fuels’ eighth and northern most Bowser Bound servo, and just one of a growing network of over 40 Vantage Fuels’ sites operating under the Bowser banner across regional Victoria and New South Wales.

A Bowser Bean spokesperson told The Junee Bulletin that the grand opening of its Junee site has been a long time coming.

“It has taken some time to rebrand the site with our Bowser Bound branding as a combination of coming out of Covid and getting the rebranding in motion slowed down improvements,” the spokesperson said.

“However, we have since worked on the site’s food offer and streamlined its convenience offer to finally bring it up to being Bowser Bound Junee.”
