Two-day hearing set for alleged $824K Junee pub fraud

THE alleged $824,000 fraud case involving the former manager of Junee’s Commercial Hotel will proceed to a two-day hearing next year.

Brenda Gore, 45, is accused of carrying out a series of fraudulent transactions totalling $824,000 over a three-year period while employed as the venue’s manager.

Police allege the transactions occurred between January 2023 and February 2026.

Gore was fired in February and arrested by strike-force detectives on March 18 following a near month-long investigation after significant financial discrepancies were reported at the hotel.

She was subsequently charged with seven counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception before being released on bail.

The Junee woman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges in May.

Earlier this month, police prosecutors were granted additional time to work through the extensive financial records at the centre of the case before the matter returned to Wagga Local Court for mention before Judge Gareth Christofi on Monday, August 24.

Represented by Legal Aid NSW, Gore was excused from appearing while the matter was listed for a two-day hearing on August 5 and 6, 2027.

A reply to the prosecution brief is due on October 19, with the matter next returning to court on that date.
