$350K in cash found in car during Riverina traffic stop
POLICE have allegedly uncovered more than $350,000 in cash packed inside a shopping bag during a traffic stop on the Hume Highway near Tumblong.
It comes just over a month after 54 kilograms of cannabis was allegedly found hidden inside a people mover during another traffic stop in the same area.
Police say officers attached to Riverina Highway Patrol were conducting “random mobile testing” about 1.15pm on Sunday, May 24, when they stopped a northbound car on the Hume Highway at Tumblong, about 15 kilometres south-east of Gundagai.

The 23-year-old driver was subjected to roadside breath and drug testing, with both returning negative results.
However, police allege a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic shopping bag containing $350,110 in cash.

The Victorian man was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station, where he was charged with recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime greater than $5000.
He was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 5 on Monday, May 25.
The alleged haul follows a separate traffic stop at Tumblong on April 14, where police allegedly seized more than 54 kilograms of cannabis from the rear of a Kia Carnival, hidden beneath toilet paper and boxes of instant noodles.
