EMERGENCY services are responding to a high-speed crash near Junee, where a vehicle carrying five people, including three children, has left the road and slammed into a tree.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Wantabadgery Road, about two kilometres from its intersection with Gundagai Road, shortly before 7pm AEDT on Monday, October 12.

There was initially some confusion over the location of the crash, with the incident first reported as being on Junee Road at Old Junee.

Emergency crews were dispatched to search roads around the village, while others travelled in the opposite direction along Wantabadgery Road towards Wantabadgery.

The crash scene was eventually located shortly before 7.30pm, with crews finding a vehicle that appeared to have left the road at high speed before colliding with a tree.

The incident triggered a major emergency response involving police, the NSW Rural Fire Service, VRA Rescue, NSW State Emergency Service and at least four ambulances.

Five patients were assessed by emergency services at the scene, including a man and woman aged in their early 20s, a 14-year-old girl and two younger children believed to be aged two and under.

Remarkably, the youngest child is believed to have escaped the crash uninjured, while the four other patients are understood to be in a stable condition.

All five are expected to be transported to Wagga Base Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
